Description

So, Thomas Plummer’s book has been out for a little bit now. It’s always a nice gesture to receive an advanced copy. And of course, if you like the book, it’s always appreciated to punch it around social media as a kind thank you. And there’s also never a better week in sales of a new product than the first week. There’s flash sales, holidays, always little bursts or action, but ultimately awareness is never higher when something is new. Well, maybe… not always…

You see, I deliberately waited to post something about Thom’s book to hopefully throw in a bump, but also because maybe when things are new isn’t the only time to take action.

I remember first meeting Thom in earnest well after I had heard him speak many times at Perform Better. It was at Speaker School where when Greg Rose had asked each student why were there, I said something to the effect that the extent of my public speaking education was being a professional wrestling for 25 years. The Internet had already brought me some cool things well after the NBA had given me so much before. In that course, Thom and Greg got me to shave, explained how being a banshee for 90 minutes is a form of monotone, and a $120 Nike Golf shirt was standard issue. At the end of that course, Thom said to me, “Stay in touch. Let me know if I can help you.”

To this day, which is probably only 3-4 years later without looking it up, in some way, shape, or form, when someone sees me for something, anything the first time, I say, “How can I help you?” That mentoring was well after I seemed to matter to a lot of people. It wasn’t just the beginning when you get a bunch of rules to follow or advice to heed.

Fast forward a couple years later, I’m still doing my thing, wiped all the mud off my shoes which of course is metaphorical, and I still get shaken up by Thom whether I think I need it or not.

So, I waited to post this because it won’t get lost in the shuffle of everybody posting it when it came out.

My growth and happiness didn’t get lost in the shuffle or taken for granted because of what this man and of course many others have done for me. I’ll be a lot of things, not all good, and of course a zebra doesn’t change its stripes. But I will never be someone that that doesn’t say thank you to those that unequivocally brought me to the dance.

Thank you, Thom, and thank you all.
